Design Process
Ever since I had a Nintendo 3DS, Animal Crossing: New Leaf was my life. When New Horizons came out for the Switch earlier in 2020, it once again took over all my time. 375+ hours later, I'm obsessed. My brother & I even convinced my mom to get the game with her Optimum points. She bought it but had all these questions on gameplay. So, for my InDesign course final assignment in Winter 2020, I made my mom a How to Guide on how to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
My main focus was to make it as easy as possible for her to play. In doing so, I pulled out my second Switch to start a whole new file. After hours of additional game play on a new island & numerous screenshots, I put together this short Beginner's Guide. I used a lot Hyperlinks in the original PDF and yes, Comic Sans font to indicate the fun game play. I also focused on kerning, character styles, and paragraph styles.
